Hi, I’m Ira — a language teacher with over 10 years of experience helping people connect with the Ukrainian language, culture and a passion for making language learning fun and accessible. COURSE CONTENT
The course is designed for English speakers. Because English and Ukrainian are very different languages, I explain things in English for most of the course so that you can understand the main concepts more easily, and the transition to Ukrainian is smoother and easier to understand.
No previous knowledge of the language is required.
The beginner's course is designed for those who are starting from scratch, which is why it starts from the absolute basics. However, the course is also perfect for advanced beginners, as the difficulty of the lessons will gradually increase.
IN MY COURSE YOU WILL LEARN:
MODULES 1, 2 AND 3:
Getting Started, Reading, and Gender
Start your journey by getting familiar with Ukrainian basics, including the alphabet, greetings, farewells, and pronouns. You’ll also explore grammatical genders, family-related vocabulary, and possessive pronouns. These modules include your first speaking practice with a story about your family.
MODULES 4, 5 AND 6:
Plural, Numbers, Verbs (Present Tense) and Accusative case
Learn to form plurals, use adjectives (like colors), and work with the verbs in the present tense. You’ll also dive into numbers, days of the week, months, and weather, while practicing verbs in present tense and the accusative case. Engaging stories such as "My Pet" and "At the Shop" will help you apply these concepts in real-life contexts.
MODULES 7, 8 AND 9:
Verbs (Past/Future),
Locative, Instrumental and Genitive Cases
Expand your skills by learning verbs in past and future tenses, locative case, and prepositions such as у/в/на. A review module strengthens your understanding of key grammar points like the dative and instrumental cases. The genitive case teaches you to express possession, absence, and numbers, culminating in practical speaking exercises.
MODULE 10:
Verbs of Motion
Wrap up your learning with verbs of motion, the dative case, and modal verbs. This final module ensures you can confidently use the language in real-world scenarios through focused speaking practice.
